Child's lesson No1:
Don't pick tree saplings -
You'll wake the tree cat, and his kittens.

Children's illustration made for the 's Monthly topic, 'Odd Forest'.
I was inspired and thinking about Chris Riddell's style of ink drawing to begin with ^^
I was using a really nice new pen that my Mum bought me from Paperchase when we were up in Manchester. It runs a lot more smoothly than my other ink pens that I used in the past, I think because it is ballpoint, and so doesn't squash and compress down after a while
It feels so good to have actually drawn something and finished it and to be really happy with it! I have been a bit frazzled art wise, but I think I'm on the way up again, yay ^^! Hee, I haven't created a mystical monster for sooo many years now ^^! Tree Monster.... Tree cat...
It was so fun making this picture ^^!
I think his name is Johnny, and he has just come home from school.... Yet another story that I would like to complete ^^!
0.5 Mechanical pencil and Black Cat Gel Pen
I hope that you guys like him ^^!
Thank you so much Cassie! ^^! I am very happy that you like the tree I wanted it to look very busy and alive ^^

I think you do nothing of consequence if you try and please some amorphous audience. I think you really have to do work that you like, and hope that people will come along for the ride. - Dave McKean

Growing up is hard to do. That's why I don't do it so much.

To me it looked like a child holding a balloon. The balloon is how messed up things are for a child today, with war and people telling them what to think and how to think it. The business suit to me represents him growing up too quickly, having school and responsibility forced upon him for a long time, and never getting to enjoy childhood. As for the trees, i'm unsure, it looks like he's pulled one out, maybe a representation of his deep rooted problems? or perhaps an earth day tree plant, or some shit, i'm unsure as to what that would mean though.

How very cute! I love this picture. The expressions of the boy and the tree monster are great and I love the line quality throughout the picture. ^^ Nice job!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
